Anti Ragging Day was observed in the college on 12 th August 2025.
The Anti-Ragging Week at NSS Training College, Ottapalam was inaugurated on 12th August 2025 in the General Hall. The ceremony began with a prayer and Acharyavandanam by Upasana U. and Namitha C., followed by the welcome address delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Seema Menon K. P., Anti-Ragging Cell Coordinator. The event was officially inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R., Principal-in-Charge. A presentation on the theme “Ragging does not break the ice, it breaks lives” was delivered by Praveena A. P. and Niveditha K. V., and the function concluded with a vote of thanks by Darshana K. and the National Anthem.
Day 1 (12th August 2025): The first day of the observance included a special session on the theme “Ragging does not break the ice, it breaks lives”. Presented by Praveena A. P. and Niveditha K. V., the session shed light on the severe consequences of ragging and emphasized the need for a respectful and inclusive campus culture.
Day 2 (13th August 2025): A Poster Making Competition was held on the theme “Ragging: A Scar on Our Future.” The contest received two thoughtful entries, both carrying strong messages against ragging. After evaluation, Treesa Mol C. J. (I Year Natural Science) was declared the winner of the competition.
Day 3 (14th August 2025): The week continued with a Photography Contest based on the theme “Together We Rise.” The competition inspired students to capture unity and collective growth through photography. Out of five creative entries, Akhila N. K. (I Year Social Science) was adjudged the winner for her impactful submission.
Day 4 (15th August 2025): A Logo Creation Contest was organized on the theme “Say No to Ragging, Say Yes to Friendship.” Students were encouraged to convey awareness against ragging through creative symbols and designs. Six impressive entries were submitted, and Anusree M. P. (I Year Mathematics) emerged as the winner with her meaningful design.
Day 5 (16th August 2025): An Essay Writing Competition was conducted on the theme “No Place for Fear: How Education Dismantles Ragging Culture.” The competition encouraged reflective writing and critical insights into how education combats ragging. Eight essays in English and Malayalam were received, and Fathima Shifa (I Year Natural Science) won the contest for her well-articulated essay.
Day 6 (16th August 2025): A Slogan Making Competition was organized on the theme “Don’t be a bully, be a buddy.” The event motivated students to craft original slogans that conveyed powerful messages against ragging. Out of ten entries, Amrutha K. (I Year Natural Science) was declared the winner for her impactful slogan.
Day 7 (18th August 2025): The week concluded with a Flash Mob under the slogan “Beat Ragging with Every Step.” The vibrant performance by enthusiastic students effectively spread awareness about the harmful effects of ragging, while promoting unity, friendship, and a positive campus culture.
Overall, the Anti-Ragging Week was marked by enthusiastic student participation across various events, each activity reinforcing the importance of building a safe and supportive campus environment. The programme was organized by the Anti-Ragging Cell in collaboration with IQAC and NSS Unit 301, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Menon K. P. (Teacher Coordinator) and Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R. (Principal-in-Charge). Student volunteers Anupama, Anagha, and Nayana (I Year Physical Science Optional) efficiently coordinated the events, and certificates were awarded to the winners as recognition of their contributions.
