Programme Description
The IT Club of N.S.S. Training College, Ottapalam, organised a one-day hands-on workshop for M.Ed First-Year students focusing on essential digital tools and academic technology skills required for postgraduate study, research, teaching, and e-content development.
The workshop provided practical training in formatting Word documents according to APA 7th Edition guidelines, including the formatting and editing of tables and figures and the preparation of references in APA style. Participants were introduced to important features of Microsoft Excel, including calculations and the preparation of graphs using spreadsheet data.
The workshop also covered the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, creation of academic posters and certificates, development of blogs, embedding PowerPoint presentations in blogs, and creation of concept maps. Participants were introduced to digital content creation through comic strips, flip books from PDF files, podcasts, and educational videos.
Training was also provided in the creation and use of Google Forms and Google Classroom. The workshop included an introduction to the basic features of Jamovi, a statistical software package used for data analysis.
The workshop followed a practical, activity-oriented approach, enabling students to develop hands-on familiarity with digital tools and apply them to academic and educational tasks. The sessions were designed to support the students in preparing academic documents, presentations, visual materials, digital learning resources, research-related outputs, and online learning activities.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. K. S. Sajan, with the support and coordination of the IT Club of N.S.S. Training College, Ottapalam.
