The Physical Science association and IQAC of NSS Training College, Ottapalam observed World Ozone day on September 16, 2020. The observance named ‘Ozonschutz’ was conducted in collaboration with Department of Botany, NSS Arts and Science College Ottapalam. The programme embodied a webinar and three intercollegiate competitions namely caption writing, letter writing and stamp making. The webinar was conducted through Google Meet platform on September 16, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Smitha R, the programme convenor, presented welcome speech. Dr. Ampili Aravind, Principal, NSS training college, Ottapalam delivered the presidential address. Dr. K S Sajan, IQAC coordinator, NSS Training College, Ottapalam felicitated the function. Dr. Pramod Kumar N, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, NSS Arts and Science College, Ottapalam presented a session on ‘Ozone depletion- causes and consequences’. The major chemical properties of ozone, its formation and importance were explained using slides. He also focused on the reasons for the depletion of ozone layer and the measures that can be taken to protect and restore the ozone layer. Akarsha Santhosh, Secretary of Physical Science association delivered the vote of thanks. E-certificates were provided to the participants of the webinar. The programme was also streamed live on the college YouTube channel ‘Vaighari’. Winners of the intercollegiate competitions were provided certificates of appreciation. All the participants were provided certificates of participation.
