MUSIC CLUB

             With a vision Old is Gold a music club is initiated in our college. The main objectives of the club is to provide chance for all those who wish to practice Karaoke songs with minimum equipment. The Staff and students of N.S.S. Training College can become the members of the club, they can practice songs with the help of Karaoke already available in the club or collected by the members them selves. Members can donate Karaoke to to the club. There is no audience in the club only participants. They can motivate each other, remove hesitation, train how to hold the microphone etc,, in the club. As the vision is Old is Gold more importance is given to Malayalam Hindi Old songs. Devotional songs are also included. If the members are interested in new songs chances are also  provided. Good listeners can also participate in the club as members they have to give positive criticism for the development of the singers.

            Though the club is not formally inaugurated it starts its function today and continue in all Wednesdays with available members. After teaching practice the official inauguration will be conducted in the presence of B Ed students.

PAPER BAG MAKING WORKSHOP

PAPER BAG-MAKING WORKSHOP HELD

Workshop to introduce a Socially Useful and Productive Work (SUPW) to B.Ed English students was held on 20th June, Friday. The workshop was led by Mr. Suresh Kumar, faculty, NSS  Training College.
The raw materials used for making the product were newspapers/chart, gum, hard board and paper bag tag.

"This is an eco-friendly product that is very useful in day to day life. A paper bag made out of even a sheet of newspaper could easily carry, upto two kilograms of weight." Said Mr. Suresh during the workshop.
" I feel it is a very useful and easy-to-make product which I think we could also teach our students to make." Says Gopika. G, a B. Ed English student.
Meera Gopinathan, another B.Ed English student says that she is all set to explore the commercial potentialities of the product. " I feel it is not utilised as much as it should be. It has huge commercial scope, I believe."
A question-answer session was also held as part of the workshop.

REPORT OF THE QUIZ COMPETITION CONDUCTED ON 12/06/2014

             Social science optional students conducted a quiz competition on 12th June 2014, Thursday.the competition was conducted in six rounds and there was five groups of participants with two members. The question were from the field of General knowledge, Current affairs, Indian history, B Ed curriculam, Sports, Constitution, Film, and Malayalam Literature. There was also audio and video rounds. The members of the question framing committee were Haris Rahman, Abhilash V V, Sreeejesh, Chinju Francis, Sukanya G, and Soumya V. The quiz master of the competition was Haris Rahman and the scorer was Abhilash V V .

                The team of Suvarna and Aswani (team E ) was the winner of the competition. Sreelatha and Nimi (team D) got the Second prize and the Third place for Sajina and Ramya (team B).

                 The prizes were distributed by our respected principal  Dr. K S Girija and prof. Shankaranarayan Paleeri

            The event gave us a motivation to read more and more to enrich our knowleddge and it was a nice experience to us.

HARITHA Nature Club of our college observed the World Environment Day on June 5^th 2014. Agricultural Officer of Krishi Bhavan Ottapalam Sri.C.Surendran distributed saplings of trees during the function and inaugurated the activities of Nature Club of the current year. Club Advisor Smt. Tara S.Nair rendered the environmental pledge which reflected the risks of our actions on the environment and our responsibilities for sustaining a greener future. Our Principal Dr. K.S.Girija and Chairman of the college Sri Vidyasagar felicitated the function. The manuscript magazine HARITHAVANI' was released by the Principal during the function. The saplings were planted by the Club members in the college premises under the leadership of Smt. Latha Agricultural Assistant and Principal.

SPORTS DAY

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET SPARK 2014

The annual sports meet for the academic year 2013-14 of N S S Training College Ottapalam, was conducted on March 1’st , 2014 saturday at the N S S K P T ground. The event was named SPARK. As a part of the sports meet, the students were divided into four houses namely, Ragam, Bhavam, Thalam and Layam. Each house denoted colours like White, Blue, Red and Green.

The sports meet began at 8.30 am by the march past of the four groups. Following this, the General Captain and the other house captains took their oaths. The inaugural session was followed by this which began with a prayer by the students. The elcome speech was delevered by Dr. Bini A , the Assistant Professor of Physical Education. The Union Chairman Vidhyasagar delivered the presidential address and it was followed by the inaugural speech by respected principal of our college Dr. K S Viswanathan. The felecitation for the programme was given by K P Seema Menon. At last, but not least, the General Captain Abhilsh v v, gave the vote of thanks. Events in the track included 100 mtrs running race to 800 mtrs, Jumping sessions of Long jump, wallcing races, Throwing sessions like Shot put, Discuss throw and Javeline. Active participation of students, both boys and girls was a major highlight of the sports meet.

After the events, the individual champions and the winners were found out and were given prizes. The 1’st position was occupied by the Blue house and 2’nd by the Red house. The other two houses also showed their active participation in the meets. Strong and supportive volunteer service was also provided.

 Thus, the Annual sports meet, as the name itself indicates was a spark that was glorious.
