The Department of Education & Reform, University of Calicut, jointly organised a two-day workshop titled "Mastering Research Tools: A Hands-on Workshop" on October 18th and 19th, 2024. The venue was Seminar Hall, Dept. Of Education. Resource persons were Prof. Dr. Noushad P. P., School of Gandhian Thought and Development Studies, M G University, Kottayam and Dr. Vijayakumari K., Retd. Professor, Farook Training College, Calicut. Programme Convenor was Prof. Bindhu C M., Head of the Dept., Dept. of Education, University of Calicut. The workshop was attended by Surabhi. C P, Athira. P V, Saritha. T S, Rahila. C H, Preethy Varghese. C, M.Ed 2nd year students, NSS Training College, Ottapalam.
The first day of the workshop commenced with a comprehensive session by Noushad sir on "Tools and Techniques for Data Collection." A detailed overview of different data collection techniques, including surveys, interviews, rating scale, questionnaire, observations, etc was given.
On the second day, Dr. Vijayakumari gave a detailed overview on standardization of tests which included item analysis, testing the reliability and validity of tests, etc.
The workshop was very beneficial, providing participants with valuable insights and practical skills in research methodology. Participants appreciated the opportunity to interact with fellow researchers and share their experiences. Rahila.
