ICT CERTIFICATE COURSE

The NSS Training College, Ottapalam, conducted a five-day Certificate Course in ICT Skills from the 15th to the 22nd, with an online class on the 18th. The course aimed to equip students with essential ICT skills. It was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr Smitha R., Principal-in-Charge. M.Ed students and research scholars enrolled in the course. Prof. Dr Sunil Kumar A.S. delivered the felicitation address, while Dr K.S. Sajan served as the resource person. The course was well-structured, featuring a welcome speech by Sreedevi and a vote of thanks by Najiya. It covered a wide range of topics across the five days.

Day 1 (15th)

The first day began with a demonstration on PowerPoint presentations, followed by a session on formatted text notes. A Word document was formatted in APA style. Participants also created a PowerPoint presentation and familiarised themselves with online resources such as Pixabay, Perplexity, and Zotero. Dr K.S. Sajan addressed students' queries and provided guidance for improvement.

Day 2 (17th)

On the second day, participants learned about Jamovi statistical analysis and Taugette. They also created custom posters using Canva, Poster Maker, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Training was provided on audio recording, editing, and podcasting using tools such as Lexis, Audacity, and Spotify for Creators. Furthermore, they explored H5P interactive content and Google Classroom. The session concluded with a Q&A session, discussions, and feedback.

Day 3 (20th)

The third day focused on Learning Management Systems (LMS) and course creation. Participants explored plagiarism detection tools, bibliometric and citation analysis, and created a FlipHTML page and concept maps. A session on podcasting was provided. This session  also give insights into tools like QuillBot, Grammarly, FlipHTML, MindMeister, and Creately.

Day 4 (21st)

The fourth day revisited Jamovi statistical analysis and Taugette. Participants engaged in online quizzes using Quizizz, Kahoot, and Nearpod. The resource person also demonstrated the planning and procedures for conducting an online conference, which was held via Google Meet.

Day 5 (22nd)

The final day served as a review and conclusion of the course. Participants compiled and reviewed the products they had created during the sessions. A certificate blueprint was selected from the submitted designs. The resource person systematically supervised and evaluated the submissions, and certificates were published following the evaluation.

The online session explored blogging and included a discussion on PowerPoint presentations via online conferences. Students demonstrated the entire process using Google Meet.


The course's emphasis on active participation ensured that students remained engaged throughout. Participants gained hands-on experience with various tools and technologies, significantly enhancing their ICT skills. The ICT Certificate Course was a comprehensive and engaging programme that successfully achieved its objectives. It is recommended that NSS Training College, Ottapalam, continue organising such courses to further improve students' ICT skills. By doing so, the college can empower students to thrive in today's technology-driven world.
