 NSS Training College Ottapalam Students Shine at International Seminar on Teacher Education


Students of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, made a remarkable mark at the International Seminar organized by the Institute of Advanced Study in Education (IASE), Thrissur, on Friday, 29th November 2024. The seminar, held at the IASE auditorium, revolved around the theme "Innovating Through Co-Creation: Designing Holistic Learning Models for Inclusive and Future-Oriented Teacher Education."
























The event featured eminent personalities like Dr. Mohan B Menon, Former Pro Vice Chancellor, Singapore National University & Chairman, ITEP Kerala, as the chief guest. The keynote speakers included Dr. Premnath Kurup, STEM Academic from La Trobe University, Melbourne, and Dr. M. A. Sudhir, UGC Emeritus Professor from Gandhigram Rural University. Their thought-provoking sessions emphasized the significance of innovation and in-depth research in education, engaging the audience with detailed presentations and interactive discussions.


Students from NSS Training College, Ottapalam, were active participants in the seminar, demonstrating their academic prowess and commitment to advancing educational research. Notably, Rahila C H, an M.Ed. second-year student, impressed the audience during the interactive Q&A session by delivering an excellent response to a question posed by the keynote speakers.


A group of M.Ed. second-year students showcased their research through paper presentations in both offline and online modes. Surabhi C P, Namboodiri Deepa Narayanan, Sree Drisya V, Krishna A V, Rahila C H, Divya V V, Karthika C, and Anju R. presented their work in person, while Samgeetha K and Vinisha B V participated online. Their presentations underscored their dedication to innovative educational approaches, earning them appreciation and certificates for their contributions.


The seminar provided an invaluable platform for the students to engage with global experts, exchange ideas, and explore transformative strategies for inclusive and future-oriented teacher education. Their active participation not only enriched the discussions but also highlighted the academic excellence of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, on an international stage.

DATA ANALYSIS WORKSHOP


The M.Ed. Association and IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, jointly organised a data analysis workshop for faculty members, research scholars, and M.Ed. students on 20th November 2024. Dr. K. S. Sajan, Assistant Professor at NSS Training College, Ottapalam, served as the resource person for the workshop. The event commenced at 10:00 a.m., with the IT Lab of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, as the venue.

The workshop focused on statistical analysis and data visualisation techniques. Dr. K. S. Sajan provided a comprehensive overview of computing descriptive and inferential statistics using Jamovi software. Key topics covered included mean, median, mode, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, t-tests, ANOVA, ANCOVA, correlation, and regression analysis. The workshop offered participants valuable learning experiences, equipping them with essential skills to analyse and interpret data effectively.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Surabhi C. P., a second-year M.Ed. student.

WORLD SCIENCE DAY OBSERVANCE

 World Science Day Observance was

Organized by First Year B.Ed Physical Science Students under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R. Principle in charge NSS Training College, Ottapalam.

As a part of observance  of World Science Day (10.11 2024), First Year B.Ed Physical Science students of NSS Training College Ottapalam, conducted a series of engaging events aimed at inspiring curiosity, fostering a love for science, and providing opportunities for interactive learning. The events spanned three days, from November 12 to 14, 2024, and included movie screenings, a quiz competition, and an adventurous treasure hunt.

Day 1: Science Fiction Movie Screening: Science Trivia  

Date: November 12, 2024  

The celebration began with an immersive experience of science fiction movies, chosen to highlight scientific concepts in an entertaining way. Five well-known sci-fi movies were selected: Interstellar, Dark, Inception, Passengers, and The Fly Collection. These films offered glimpses into the potential of scientific exploration and the wonders of the universe. The screening was accompanied by a "Science Trivia" segment, where students discussed and analysed the scientific principles depicted in each movie, enhancing both engagement and understanding.

Day 2: Online Quiz competition: “Sciencerix”

Date: November 13, 2024  

On the second day, an online quiz competition titled "Sciencerix Quiz: Explore, Discover, Learn" was held at 8.00 pm to 8.05 pm. Tested participants on various scientific concepts and general science knowledge. The competition saw enthusiastic participation across various subject options.

The quiz provided an opportunity for students to expand their scientific knowledge and showcase their understanding of scientific principles.

Day 3: Treasure Hunt: "Atomic Adventure Hunt"  

Date: November 14, 2024  

The third and final day featured a thrilling treasure hunt called the "Atomic Adventure Hunt." Designed to encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking, this event took students on an adventurous quest filled with science-themed challenges.
