Awareness class on Amoebic Menongoencephalitis



 The Natural Science Association of NSS Training College, Ottapalam conducted an *Awareness Class on Amoebic Meningoencephalitis* on *22nd September 2025* at 9:30 a.m. in the General Hall. The programme began with a prayer by Amrutha and by Krishnaveni. Fathima Shifa compered the event, while Annarose K. Anto and Mahira Thesni presented the awareness session. The class highlighted the causes, symptoms, and prevention of the disease. The programme concluded with the National Anthem .it was an informative and impactful session coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Anu S (Teacher-in-Charge) and Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R (Principal-in-Charge).

Report on Minister’s Excellence Award 2025

The N.S.S. Training College, Ottapalam has been honored with the Minister’s Excellence Award for securing the prestigious NAAC A+ Grade.

The award was presented during Excellentia 2025, held on 15th and 16th September 2025 at Thiruvananthapuram. The recognition was conferred by Dr. R. Bindu, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education & Social Justice, Government of Kerala.

This achievement is a testimony to the institution’s consistent commitment towards quality education, academic excellence, and social responsibility. By attaining the NAAC A+ Grade, the college has set a benchmark of high standards in teaching, learning, and overall institutional performance.

The event was organized under the auspices of SLQAC Kerala (State Level Quality Assurance Cell), with the objective of recognizing and celebrating higher education institutions that excel in academic and administrative quality parameters.

The award marks a significant milestone in the history of N.S.S. Training College, Ottapalam, highlighting the dedication of its faculty, staff, students, and management towards achieving excellence in the field of teacher education.

World Ozone Day 16th September 2025




 The Science Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, successfully organized the World Ozone Day Celebration on 16th September 2025 at the General Hall. The theme of the event was “From Science to Global Action.” The program aimed to highlight the importance of the ozone layer, create awareness about the threats posed by its depletion and emphasize the responsibility of each individual in protecting the environment.

The event commenced with a prayer and acharyavandanam led by Athira and Kavya.This was followed by smooth and effective compering by Amrutha K. A presentation was then delivered by Gowri and Angel Joshy A, who spoke on the vital role of the ozone layer, the impact of human activities on its depletion and the global initiatives taken to safeguard it. The program concluded with the National Anthem. 

The celebration was conducted under the guidance of teacher coordinators Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R. and Dr. Anu S., with the constant support and encouragement of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R., Principal-in-Charge. Their valuable leadership and motivation contributed significantly to the success of the program.
The Science Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam organized an Inter-Department Quiz Competition in connection with World Ozone Day on September 16th, 2025 at 1.00 PM in the General Hall. The programme was held under the guidance of Teacher Co-ordinators Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R and Dr. Anu S, with the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R, Principal-in-charge. The student co-ordinators were Vismaya, Athira, Aparna, and Navaneetha from the Physical Science option. Athira served as the quiz master for the event. After a spirited contest, the first prize was won by Treeza and Athira from the Natural Science option, the second prize by Nimmy and Pooja from the Social Science option, and the third prize by Sunaina and Jetha, also from the Social Science option. The competition concluded successfully with active participation, and attractive prizes were distributed to the winners. The event served as a platform for students to showcase their knowledge and also highlighted the importance of protecting the ozone layer.

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam organised an Inter Training College Quiz Competition on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, September 5, to honour the legacy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and to celebrate the vital role of teachers in nation-building. The event aimed to encourage student teachers to engage in knowledge enhancement and to promote intellectual interaction across institutions.


The quiz competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from student teachers of various training colleges. The contest tested their awareness, teaching aptitude, and general knowledge, creating a spirit of healthy competition and collaboration.




After an engaging session, the winners were declared as follows:


First Prize: Hisana N


Second Prize: Harsha H Mohan (NSS Training College, Ottapalam)


Third Prize: Leya Susan Mathew (BSS B.Ed. Training College, Alathur)



The winners were congratulated and awarded E-certificates in recognition of their achievement. The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. K. S. Sajan, IT Club Coordinator, with the support and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R., Principal in Charge.


The competition not only added value to the Teachers’ Day celebrations but also provided a platform for student teachers to showcase their academic spirit, teamwork, and competitive excellence.

Report on Intercollegiate Teachers’ Day Quiz Competition

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organised an Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on September 5, Teachers’ Day, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and to celebrate the significance of teachers in society. The event aimed to promote knowledge sharing, intellectual engagement, and healthy competition among student teachers from different colleges.
The quiz, titled “Teachers’ Day Quiz”, was conducted in an online mode, ensuring participation from a wide range of student teachers across institutions. A special registration system was arranged using Wayground, and participants were able to join through the QR code provided in the official poster.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from various colleges. Student teachers actively showcased their general awareness, teaching aptitude, and subject knowledge. The winners of the competition were awarded E-certificates for the First, Second, and Third prizes, while all participants received appreciation for their active involvement.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. K. S. Sajan, IT Club Coordinator, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R, Principal in charge. The efforts of the IT Club Student Secretary, Vismaya Prasad K, in organising and coordinating the event, were also noteworthy.

The competition successfully highlighted the academic spirit of Teachers’ Day and provided student teachers with a platform to engage in collaborative learning and knowledge enhancement.

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organised a Reels Making Competition as part of its creative initiatives to promote digital literacy and artistic expression among students. The event provided a platform for participants to showcase their imagination, storytelling skills, and technical expertise in short video creation, a medium highly relevant in today’s digital era.

The competition received enthusiastic participation from different departments, and the entries reflected a blend of creativity, social awareness, and aesthetic appeal. After careful evaluation, the winners were selected and announced.

Alumni visit (15/09/2025)


It was a special day at our college as we welcomed Smt. Indira Devi C, Retired Deputy Headmistress, MSM HSS Kalingalparamba, Malappuram, and proud B.Ed. Alumna of the 1987–1988 batch. 

She visited the college on 15th September 2025, accompanied by her daughter Ms. Karthika C, who is also connected to the institution as an M.Ed. Alumna of the 2023–2025 batch.


Adding to the joy of the occasion, today's Principal-in-Charge, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Menon K. P., herself is an alumna of the 2002–2003 B.Ed. batch.


The day felt like a warm reunion of generations of alumni, where memories of the past and the pride of belonging to the institution were beautifully shared, strengthening the bond between the college and its stakeholders.

AIDS Awareness Magic Show

NSS Unit 301 in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club of of NSS Training College Ottapalam conducted a magic show on 11/09/2025 at 12.30 pm to make the prospective teachers aware about AIDS. Ms Sreeshma rendered the welcome address. Principal in charge Prof (Dr ) Smitha R inaugurated the program. Red ribbon club coordinator Dr Lekshmi V rendered felicitations. Magician Rajeev Memunda lead the program. Ms Anagha S Raj rendered vote of thanks. It was an amazing experience for all.
