DATA ANALYSIS WORKSHOP FOR M ED STUDENTS ON STATISTICAL PACKAGE - JAMOVI
The field of education is becoming increasingly data-driven, and the use of statistical packages is becoming more and more essential for analyzing data. To prepare the M.Ed students for this changing landscape, an ICT workshop based on the statistical package Jamovi was conducted. This report summarizes the objectives, methodology, and outcomes of the workshop.
Objectives:
The primary objective of the workshop was to introduce the M.Ed students to the statistical package Jamovi and provide hands-on experience in using it to analyze data. The specific objectives of the workshop were:
To provide an overview of the statistical package Jamovi and its features.
To introduce the basics of statistical analysis using Jamovi.
To provide hands-on experience in using Jamovi to analyze data.
To provide an opportunity for the M.Ed students to learn how to interpret the results of statistical analyses.
Methodology:
The workshop was conducted in two sessions, each lasting for three hours. The first session was devoted to providing an overview of the statistical package Jamovi and its features. The second session was focused on providing hands-on experience in using Jamovi to analyze data.
The first session began with a brief introduction to statistics, explaining its importance in education research. The instructor Dr K S Sajan then introduced the statistical package Jamovi and provided an overview of its features. This included a demonstration of the user interface, the data view, the variable view, and the analysis view. The session concluded with a brief discussion of the different types of statistical analyses that can be performed using Jamovi.
The second session began with a brief review of the statistical concepts introduced in the first session. The instructor then provided hands-on training in using Jamovi to analyze data. The M.Ed students were given a dataset to work with, and the instructor guided them through the process of importing the data, cleaning the data, and performing basic statistical analyses such as descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and t-tests. The students were also taught how to interpret the results of these analyses.
Outcomes:
The workshop was successful in achieving its objectives. The M.Ed students gained a solid understanding of the statistical package Jamovi and its features. They were able to perform basic statistical analyses using Jamovi and interpret the results of these analyses. The workshop also provided the students with an opportunity to work with real data and apply the statistical concepts they had learned in a practical setting.
Conclusion:
The ICT workshop based on the statistical package Jamovi was a success. It provided the M.Ed students with the knowledge and skills necessary to analyze data using Jamovi. The workshop was an excellent opportunity for the students to gain practical experience in using statistical software and interpreting the results of statistical analyses. It is hoped that this workshop will help prepare the students for the changing landscape of education research, where data analysis is becoming increasingly important.
